Obituary for Robert Lorne "Bob" Foote

Robert Lorne "Bob" Foote
On Sunday, December 18, 2016, Robert Lorne "Bob" Foote, age 82 years, passed away peacefully at the Brandon Assiniboine Center with his family by his side. Bob fought a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. He met the love of his life, Elsbeth while attending the University of Manitoba and they were married on March 28, 1964 in Winnipeg, settling soon after on a farm near Killarney. When not pursuing his passion for farming Bob enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, golfing and crop inspecting, always with Elsbeth by his side. Together they enjoyed numerous vacations somewhere warm during the winter months and took many cruises which included the Panama Canal, the Mediterranean and Australia. In the summer months, one could usually find Bob tending his multiple rows of peas, corn, potatoes and raspberries. Bob did not garden small scale, he did it farmer-style. Bob will be deeply missed by Elsbeth, his wife of 52 years; daughter Monica Debacker (partner Jeff Bjarnason) and her daughters Roslyn, Candace and Jamie; son Gordon (Christine) and their children Mathew, Lindsey and Adam. He leaves behind brothers; Wesley, George, Wilbert (Dianne) and Ted; sisters Mae, Florence, Ella, and Margaret; sister-in-law Pat Foote of Killarney; sister-in-law Ingrid Weinberg and family in California; brother-in-law Erich Ruppel (Gerdie) and family in Germany; brother-in-law Hans Walter Ruppel (Brigitte) and family, also in Germany. Bob also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Bill. A Celebration of Bob's Life will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, Brandon on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Brandon Cemetery. A reception will follow at Memories Chapel. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Bob may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation for the Western Manitoba Cancer Centre, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 2B3.
