Mischief?

Bob Foote was a student of mine at the Agricultural & Homrmaking School in the winter of 1951/52. I think he was only 16 or 17 at the time. The lady in charge of the girls course was Marg Dyker and Marg and I started dating that winter. One night I took her to a show.I always had my car parked behind the school. The next morning when I went out to my car there was a large cardboard sign on the back of it and it had very large printing on it which read "CAUTION - ONE ARMED DRIVER". I was pretty certain that some of my students were responsible and I suspected that Bob might have been one of them. He was a good kid but he had a bit of a mischievous streak. Last year I attended Stan Lovett's funeral in Killarney. He was another member of that class. At the reception I happened to be sitting at the same table as Bob. I asked him about that incident many years ago. I got a smile but not an admission of guilt. Well Bob, if you were involved I forgive you. It was a relatively innocent prank and it gave me a lot more amusement than annoyance. And I can tell you that the "other" arm and hand that should have been on the steering wheel were around the young lady who shortly after that became my dear wife of over sixty years. Rest in peace Bob.
