On Friday, January 27, 2017, Nancy Lucille Gibson, age 57 years, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Born March 9, 1959, to Helga and Lloyd Gibson, Nancy was the second child of a family of six children and grew up in the farming community of Waskada. She attended the local school to grade 10 and then left school to join her sister Marilyn and her family in Summit Lake, BC. In 1978, she moved to Prince George, B.C. where she worked various jobs. Then in 1980 Nancy moved to Vancouver B.C. where she worked as a lab assistant for The Ministry of Environment of British Columbia. While in Vancouver, she studied for and acquired her GED. In 1989, she continued her studies at Vancouver Community College and received her diploma for Medical Office Assistant. She then worked for Vancouver General Hospital for several years before moving back to Brandon, Manitoba in 1998 to be closer to her family. She worked as a Mental Health Proctor and as a Community Support worker enriching the lives of the people with whom she worked. Nancy loved to spend time with her nieces and nephews, camping, doing crafts, playing games, singing along to music and simply enjoying life. Nancy was predeceased by her father Lloyd, and survived by her Mother Helga; her siblings Marilyn, Deanna (John), Darin (Debbie), Aubrey (Leslie), and Arleigh and many nieces, nephews and friends. The Ceremony to Celebrate Nancy's Life will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, Brandon on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Joe Ball will officiate. A reception will follow at Memories Chapel. Donations in memory of Nancy may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Unit 5B - 457 9th Street, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 4A9.
