Obituary for Walter Parsonage

Walter Parsonage
Walter Seigrave Parsonage, age 87 years, passed away at Rideau Park Personal Care Home on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Walter was born on May 6, 1931 in Baldur, Manitoba. While growing up and working on the family farm, he attended Greenway Elementary School and Baldur High School. Walter bought the farm from his father in 1962 and continued to farm the land and raise cattle. He was a great cattle man and cared for them well. A member of the curling and Belgium Bowling Clubs of Baldur, Walter was also a Director of the Greenway Fair Board for years. Curling and watching hockey and baseball were favorite pastimes. In his later years, he enjoyed all games of cards and played shuffle board in Mesa, winning several trophies. Predeceased by his parents, brothers Frank and Harry, one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Walter will be deeply missed by his loving wife Doris and stepchildren, Lynda, Karen and Bill and their families, sisters Jessie Matchett of Treherne, Minnie Haggerty of Delta, BC, and brother Jack (Lorraine) of Winnipeg. The Celebration of Walter's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Friday, November 23, 2018. The Rev. Christopher Evetts of St. Mary's Anglican Church officiated. Urn Bearer was his great-granddaughter Ashton English. Interment will be at Rosewood Memorial Gardens at a later date. Donations in memory of Walter may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 2B7 or to a charity of choice.
Miss Me But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road,
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in gloom filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey we must all take,
And each must go alone,
It's part of the master's plan,
A step on the road to home,
So when you are lonely and sick at heart,
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deed.
Miss me - but let me go.
