Obituary for Bonnie Christine Mitchell

Bonnie Christine Mitchell (nee Wilson), age 31 years, of Brandon, MB, beloved wife of Stephen, and caring mother to Connor and Brayden, passed away suddenly on October 24, 2018 into the presence of her Lord and Saviour, whom she loved and served with her whole heart.

Bonnie was born in Winnipeg, MB to Grant and Janet Wilson on June 5, 1987. She graduated high school from Calvin Christian Collegiate in 2005. Bonnie completed her Bachelor of Music through Canadian Mennonite University in 2009 followed by her Bachelor of Education from the University of Winnipeg in 2011. Bonnie married the love of her life, Stephen Mitchell, at Immanuel Pentecostal Church in Winnipeg on September 22, 2012. Bonnie and Stephen lived in the home they built north of Brandon, MB, raising their two beautiful children, Connor and Brayden.

Bonnie worked as a lifeguard at her ‘home away from home’, Manhattan Beach Retreat Centre, for six years from the summer of 2005 until 2010. Upon graduating university, Bonnie worked as a grade five teacher at Calvin Christian School (Winnipeg) in 2011 and as a middle school teacher at Christian Heritage School (Brandon) from 2012 - 2016. Bonnie served with Devoted Ministries from 2011 – 2018, alongside her husband, Stephen Mitchell, travelling to churches and camps across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Ontario.

Bonnie lived her life passionately and selflessly serving Jesus in all aspects, confidently proclaiming Christ’s message of hope and salvation, and leading humbly in worship through music and song. Bonnie set her eyes on serving Christ, accepting His salvation, and impacting the lives of countless family members, friends, students and strangers. Bonnie’s influence reaches far beyond her short time on earth, to the glorious Kingdom of God and an eternal life with Christ.

Bonnie is now rejoicing in the presence of God and has been reunited with her Grandma (Viola Wilson), Nana (Betty Murray) and childhood friend Mahri Hohl.

Bonnie will be deeply missed by her husband Stephen Mitchell, children Connor and Brayden, parents Grant & Janet Wilson, siblings Angela Wilson and David Wilson, Grandpa David Wilson. She will also be missed by the Mitchell family including Marilyn & Arnold Mitchell, Cathy & Ryan and their children Josh, Daniel and Jenna Nevin, Sharilyn & David and their children Jared and Kaylyn Daher, and Michelle Mitchell, her extended family of cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents, and her many close friends who were like family.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Bonnie’s Life will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday November 3, 2018 at the Victoria Inn, Imperial Ballroom, 3550 Victoria Avenue, Brandon (CHANGE OF LOCATION). A time of visitation will take place in the morning at Bethel Christian Assembly, 440 Richmond Avenue from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Donations in memory of Bonnie may be made to Devoted Ministries, 440 Richmond Ave, Brandon, MB R7A 6E9.
