Obituary for Brian D. Hunter

It is with profound sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved husband, brother, cousin and cherished friend, Brian D. Hunter. Brian passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the age of 64, with Nicole, his wife of 14 years by his side. He will be missed. Brian was born in Hamiota, Manitoba on May 26, 1954 to Russell and Roberta (nee Dryden) Hunter. Brian grew up on the family farm. He belonged to the Oakner 4H Beef Club and was proud to have won ribbons for his show steers. He took his schooling in Oakner and Hamiota. Brian farmed his entire working life and also had special interests in mechanical work, inventing various devices, working with his metal lathe, doing scrollwork. Brian was a kind, generous, caring man who worked very hard in a career that he loved. Brian is survived by his spouse Nicole (nee Delongchamp), siblings, Robert (Linda), Clinton (Linda), Fraser (Nancy) and Janet (Don) Johnson; in-laws Denis (Carmen) Delongchamp, Marc (Mary), Pierre (Elaine) and Colette (Jack) Gosselin; special aunts Jean Hunter and Eileen Nurse and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and niece, Dana Darr. Special thanks to Dr. L. Minder, Dr. A. Ahweng and Dr. W. Hunter. At Brian's request, no formal service will be held. Donations in memory of Brian may be made to a charity of choice.

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
Or you can be full of the love and friendship you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him and only that he is gone,
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry, close your mind and turn your back,
Or you can do what Brian would want;
"Smile, open your eyes, love, and go on"!
