Obituary for John Heinrich Dyck

John Heinrich Dyck
John Henry of Brandon, beloved husband of Lois, loving father to daughter Dorine (Mark) Fowke and family and son Jack (Winnie) and family, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Rideau Park Personal Care Home in Brandon. John was born November 16, 1922 and at the age of three years he and his family left Russia to seek a new home in Canada. Here they lived in various locations throughout Manitoba before settling in the community of Minto. John's childhood was filled with a love for reading, singing and sports. In time John took over the family farm which lead to a move to the Boissevain area. This also provided opportunity to attend Bible College where he met Lois, the love of his life. Jointly they went on to operate the farm until 1971 when they relocated to Brandon where John was involved in the Real Estate business. After retirement came a move to Kelowna for 9 years before returning to Brandon to be closer to family. Throughout his life John had a deep and abiding faith. His ‘Lord Jesus’ was his best friend and influenced every aspect of his life. Anyone that spent any time with John knew where his allegiance lay. Neighbours, business acquaintances, kids and grandkids all learned of his relationship with his Lord Jesus. One of his greatest thrills was to give new testaments to children through his 50 years of involvement with the Gideons. John loved his family and along with this he simply loved people. Family times were best when all of us could be together to play, laugh, sing and pray. Favorite times were spent around the campfire enjoying family and friends. Yarns of his childhood were shared with his kids and grandkids, as well as with his many nieces and nephews. John loved people and talked to any and all no matter where he went. To many within the community John was known as “Singer John”. He loved to sing! Because of this he sang at many weddings for family and friends. He directed the church choir for many years and sang at numerous community events. Later in life, after ending up in the hospital he performed one last time. He sang ‘Jesus Loves Me’ in German for the staff and patients after supper one evening. To the end of life, his love for his saviour and for those around him continued to be paramount. John’s wife, Lois and their children, Dorine and Jack along with their families would like to invite family and friends to the celebration of John’s life at Richmond Park Church, 1525 26th Street, Brandon, MB on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a fellowship lunch to follow. Should friends desire, donations can be made to the Gideons International In Canada, P.O. Box 3619, Stn. Main, Guelph ON, N1H 7A2.
