Obituary for Rosanne Joyce Lederhaus (Abrey)

Rosanne Joyce Lederhaus (Abrey)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosanne Joyce Lederhaus (nee Abrey). On September 27th, 2018, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, Rosanne lost her incredibly hard and private battle with Non - Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Rosanne was a brave and courageous woman; a warrior who took everything in stride and never engaged in self-pity, nor did she want sympathy from others. We take comfort in knowing that Rosanne passed peacefully, with her loving husband, Gary, holding her hand through to her very last breath.
Rosanne was born on August 10, 1956 in Winnipeg, MB and spent most of her childhood living in Grandview, MB. After graduating high school in 1974, she continued her education and attended college in Winnipeg, MB. In 1976, she moved to Thompson, MB., where she obtained a job as a data processor at Inco. It was then her life changed forever … she met her one and only soul mate, Gary. In 1977, Gary and Rosanne married and went on to have two beautiful children. Vanessa and Aaron, along with her three grandchildren, were the light of her life. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker and mother, Rosanne spent most of her career working for the School District of Mystery Lake in a variety of clerical and administrative assistant positions.
In 2007, Rosanne and Gary began a new chapter in their lives and retired to Brandon, MB where she thoroughly enjoyed decorating and renovating their home. She also spent many happy years gardening in her little backyard oasis. She loved trying out new recipes, playing cards (especially Canasta!), camping, bowling, travelling, and going to concerts. Rosanne and Gary’s latest passion was classic cars and attended various car events and of course, cruising in their ‘73 Dodge Charger!
She is survived by husband Gary, children Vanessa (Tim) Nerbas and Aaron (Joanne) Lederhaus, grandchildren, Nicholas, Max, and Ethan, father-in-law Wilf (Elsie) Lederhaus, step-mother Lorraine Abrey, sister-in-law Linda (Arlan) Dale, sister Connie (Ross), brothers Gerald, Cameron (Darla), Michael (Bonnie), and Brian, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Rosanne was predeceased by her mother and father, Josephine and Alfred Abrey, and by mother-in-law Ruth Lederhaus.
Keeping with Rosanne’s wishes, an intimate and beautiful celebration of life was held on September 30, 2018. We remember her fondly as a very kind, caring, and strong woman who’s laughter will forever sing in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the 4th floor ICU and emergency department staff at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, the staff at Western Manitoba Cancer Care, along with Dr. Mollar and Dr. Minders for the compassionate care they provided Rosanne throughout her illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415 - 1st Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8.
