Obituary for Hilda Elizabeth Wells (Leifso)

Hilda Elizabeth Wells (Leifso)
Hilda Elizabeth Wells passed away peacefully with family at her side, on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the age of 93. Hilda was born on April 21, 1925 in Verwood, Saskatchewan to Edward and Louisa Leifso, one of nine children. In mom's family there were two boys, five girls, and two more boys. She was raised in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan area and later moved to Boissevain, Manitoba with her family. Hilda and George Wells were married in Minto, Manitoba, on December 13, 1947. Hilda is survived by children Doug (Heather) Wells, Judy (Derek) Kindrat, Betty (Eugene) Chalanchuk, and Nancy (Ron) Thomas, siblings, Elmer Leifso, Mildred Kinsley, Gladys DeYaeger, and Kenneth Leifso. She was predeceased by her husband George Robert Wells in 2015 and siblings, Robert Leifso, Eddie Leifso, Florence Montgomery, Reta Klindt. Mom was an avid self-taught crocheter and we have numerous items she has made to remember her. Mom's love of gardening and flowers was very evident with her flower beds, gardens and birthdays each year. She often talked of her enjoyable years working at Fairview Personal Care Home as a kitchen aide and then in the housekeeping department from the 1960's to mid 1980's. There were many enjoyable weekends and summers spent at the trailer at Killarney Lake. Mom was an avid shopper and would quickly "say yes" to any offer of shopping trip to local stores. Red always being her color of choice. Hilda was a resident of Fairview PCH for the past three years and always had a wide bright smile for all the staff and visitors that came to see her. She will be sincerely missed by her ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Hilda was laid to rest in a family graveside service at the Brandon Cemetery. A Come & Go Memorial Reception was held at Memories Chapel on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. with a time of reflection at 3:30 p.m. Arlene Robertson officiated. Donations in memory of Hilda may be made to Fairview Personal Care Home, 1351 13th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 4S6 or to a charity of choice.
