Donna D. Wruth
WRUTH: Donna D. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Born to Oliver and Irene Wruth on November 8, 1950, in Redvers, SK, Donna lived on a farm twelve miles northwest of Carievale. She enjoyed Girl Guides and loved horseback riding. At age 13, Donna's whole family moved to a farm on the north side of Otter Lake just 4 miles east of Erickson, Manitoba. In August 1968, Donna was involved in a car accident that left her a paraplegic. She completed rehab in Winnipeg, where she became involved in wheelchair sports and travelled to South America (two times), all across Canada and Germany, winning many medals - including one Olympic Bronze in Germany in 1972. Upon completion of high school at River East Collegiate in North Kildonan, Donna attended Red River Community College becoming a Stenographer. While employed with Manitoba Health Services Commission on Empress Street, she worked her way up to Supervisor of seven staff members in the Typing Pool and Secretary to the Pharmaceutical Consultant. Due to health issues, Donna had to retire early and moved back to Erickson in 1988, relocating to Brandon in 1998 with an eventual move to Lions Manor in January 2006. She loved it there! Donna was predeceased by her father Oliver Wruth, stepdad Donald Montgomery, brother Regan and nephew Tyson Wruth. She leaves to mourn her mother Irene Montgomery; siblings Delbert of Courtney, BC, Tom (Diane) of Brandon, MB, Allan (Rosalind) of Kitscoty, AB, Sheila of Brandon, MB, Mark (Lynne) of Erickson, MB, Garrett of Grande Prairie, AB and Melvin (Marjorie) of Erickson, MB; plus many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Donna was laid to rest beside her father at Erickson Cemetery, Erickson, Manitoba.
