Obituary for Percy Herman Bercier

Percy Herman Bercier
On Wednesday, March 21, 2018, Percy Herman Bercier, resident of Community Welcome, Brandon, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. He was born June 2, 1952 in Roblin, Manitoba. A health issue from birth prevented him from being mobile until he was about 1 year old. Raised by his grandmother until he was approximately 4 years old, Percy lived in Boggy Creek, Manitoba, and received his elementary education from Grand Prairie School. As his speech was a bit of a problem, school was a challenge. An environmentalist at heart, Percy walked a million miles picking cans and bottles from the ditches all around Brandon. He helped cut grass for people and assisted furniture movers. Every morning he made coffee, fed the fish and checked all doors were locked at Brandon Community Welcome. An active member for Brandon Community Welcome, Percy was involved with community support services and the Canadian Mental Health Association. In his spare time he loved to play Bingo, rummoli, cribbage and card games. Percy is survived by his sisters Ruth (Ernie) Paul of Rapid City, Norma Bercier of Calgary, AB, Sylvia Roberts of Brandon, MB, Shirley (Dave) Shields of Hanna, AB; brothers Gilbert Bercier of Brandon, Manitoba and Paul (Christine) Beaudry of Grande Prairie, AB. He was predeceased by his parents Herman and Myrtle Bercier, grandparents Ursula and Moses Bercier and Mable and Josiah Harrington, and brother-in-law Frank Roberts. The Funeral Service took place at Memories Chapel on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. Rev. Fr. Kelly Wilson of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church officiated. Percy was laid to rest at the St. Claire's Parish Cemetery, San Clara, Manitoba. Donations in memory of Percy may be made to Grey Owl Post-Psychiatric Co-op Center Inc., 1036 Louise Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 0Y1.
