Obituary for Sharen Lee Davis

Sharen Lee Davis
On Sunday, October 29, 2017, Sharen Lee Davis (nee Hill), age 66 years, passed away in the Palliative Ward of the Assiniboine Centre with her family by her side. Sharen was pre-deceased by her mother Doris, father Wally and several aunts and uncles. Sharen is survived by her husband of 45 years Hugh, daughter Erin Blerot (Greg), grand-daughter Danielle Blerot and son Ian (Sam), as well as brothers Bernie Hill of Lethbridge, Daniel Brydon of Regina and sister Wendy Jarvin (Kenn) of Brandon. Sharen attended school at St. Michael’s Academy, George Fitton, Alexandra and Harrison High. She worked summers during high school at BMHC. During grade school and high school, Sharen was active in Explorers, CGIT, and the YMCA where she made many friends. She was a competitive swimmer in high school, where the backstroke was her specialty. Following high school graduation, Sharen worked in the nursery at Brandon General Hospital. Sharen loved children. She attended ACC for a clerical course and worked in a doctor’s office. Her final full-time position was with Manitoba Highways Department. In 1978, she left to become a full-time Mom and homemaker. Sharen enjoyed being around people. She volunteered at Green Acres School and had several part-time jobs, such as at Woolco, commercial cleaning at the East End Community Centre for ten years and lastly, seasonal at The Green Spot for ten years. Sharen was an avid flower gardener and was noted for having a green thumb and well manicured flower beds. She also liked spending time at the cabin in the Old Campgrounds at Clear Lake but also delighted in traveling and had many trips to the Black Hills, Minot, Grand Forks, Montana, British Columbia, the Maritimes, Mexico and Cuba. Sharen had a newspaper cutout taped to the inside of one of her recipe books with the following words on it, describing perhaps how she wanted to be remembered: “Our sister did not aspire to what the world called great things or greatness. She accepted the simple, quiet, gentle joys that life offered and did her best to bring up her family in the way they should. She taught them tolerance, fairness, kindness, generosity, honesty and truth…to work hard and care for others. She was a great mother and a great sister.” The Celebration of Sharen’s Life was held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Memories Chapel. She will not be forgotten. Donations in memory of Sharen may be made to Diabetes Canada, Unit A1-800 Rosser Avenue, Brandon, MB R7A 6N5 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Unit 3-2430 Victoria Avenue, Brandon, MB R7B 0M5.
