The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of James Potter can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: Sincere sympathy to all of Mr. Potter's family. I have remembered him fondly over the years. He gave me my first job at Potter, Thornborough, Sheldon & George. My interview with him was an original! He sat behind his massive desk - I could barely see him over the piles of files - looked at me, gave that little smile, and said, "Ok. Talk." Yikes!! I was 18 years old, nervous and shy. I simply babbled. I'm sure he couldn't have been impressed with my intelligence, so he must have hired me out of pity! One of a kind!!

Condolence: The picture brings back memories. I spent many hours with Jim at Brandon College studying (not so much), philosophising (a lot), having a beer or two (on occasion) and generally hanging out. I saw Jim for coffee on the infrequent occasions when I visited Brandon from the West Coast for College reunions. It was always as if I had just been away for a trip as we easily picked up our relationship from years gone by. Best wishes to the family, who I have not met, for Jim was a great guy who lived well but not long enough!

Condolence: My condolences to Grace, Doug and Kevin and families. Jim was a very special person and he will be missed by you and his many friends. Jim became a friend to many of us at Brandon College when he left Carievale to pursue an education; those friendships have continued over the years, packed with a goodly number of stories, all of which tell you about what a good man he was with a wry sense of humour. So sorry he is gone now.

My friend. ..
My Lawyer.....Legal beagle
My Fellow Kinsman.

Although I'm saddened that he is Gone...
I prefer to remember the things we did together...

1975 .. We had the midnite shift stoking fire on a Pit BBQ.
There was an Airstream convention in Brandon. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

1977 We flew to Oshawa to pick up a Buick
We drove to Montreal for a Grey Cup game...
It was a cold snowy field in the old Olympic stadium
I was a disappointing game as E.E. seemed half asleep 😴. ..⁉️
Afterwards Jim insisted on buying CHINESE dinners.
The trip home through Chicago and Minneapolis was eventful...

He often talked about a friend who was a Legal Surveyor (MLS & SLS )
He also said his dad died as younger man with heart problems

So one summer he going up and field on a John Deere he decided better get a University education.... and he DID....the rest is history
Always a SRR fan. 🏈
I often sent him emails from Alberta , but he preferred to call me. πŸ“ž

Our very sincere condolences to Grace & their sons
A productive life lived...
