Lena "Mae" Hall
Lena “Mae” Hall, age 88 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Born in 1929, the youngest of four, Mae grew up near Birtle, MB. She lived through the Great Depression and saw an incredible number of changes in her life. She met her husband, Cyril, at a Victory Dance and was married in 1949. They lived in the Poplar Hill School District area and then moved to Kemnay, where Mae remained for 35 years before moving into Brandon. Mae was a devoted homemaker, 4-H Leader, and member of the Women’s Institute. Sewing, needlework and gardening were a huge part of her life as well as family and community picnics and dances. When her youngest started high school, Mae began working in the fabric department at Woolco, where she remained for 25 years. In retirement, Mae loved to curl in the winter and golf in the summer. She loved the water and swam in rivers, lakes, pools, and the ocean. Angel food cakes and Christmas baking will be remembered by family and friends. She enjoyed travelling with family including trips to England and Paris as well as across Canada and throughout the USA. Mae is survived by son Garry; daughter Lois (Dick); grandchildren Koreene (Brian), Aaron, Jared (Emily), Brianne (Brett), Michael, and Heidi; great-grandchildren Terrik (Brittany), Jayden, Corbin, Elijah, Samuel, Phillipa, Lyric and Kaliya and great-great-grandson Shane.
