The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Gertrude Templeton can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

With heavy hearts the family of Gertrude May Templeton announce her passing at Fairview Home in Brandon on Thursday, July 27, 2017, with family by her side. Gertie was born May 22, 1921 in Newdale, Manitoba to Jim and Sarah Milne. She married Tom Templeton in 1947 and they eventually settled in Holland, Manitoba where they raised their family. Gertie will be lovingly remembered by her children Carol (Jim) Campbell of Winnipeg, Jim (Lynne) of Regina; grandsons Mike (Julie) and Tom Templeton; great-grandchildren Claire and Leif Templeton; sisters Margaret and Olive Templeton and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Tom; sisters Elsie Wilson and Florence Brown and nephews Bruce Templeton and Alister Wilson. Gertie's teaching career began in 1940 with retirement in 1983. She truly loved her family but also her students and fellow teachers. The family would like to thank all the staff at Fairview Home, especially the staff on the 5th floor, for the exceptional care afforded to Gertie and her family. Gertie will be laid to rest in a private graveside ceremony at a later date. Donations in memory of Gertie may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 4B, 457-9th Street, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 1K2.

You will always be missed and never forgotten.
