Obituary for Marlene Taylor

Marlene Taylor (Hamilton)

It is with love that we remember Marlene’s life and peaceful passing March 30th, 2017. On this day we feel blessed to have our parents reunited. Marlene was predeceased by husband Stanley (Lou) Taylor of Minnedosa MB, November 8, 2000.

Marlene was born on August 21,1933 to William & Euphemia Hamilton (Woods) in Rossburn, MB. Mom was the second youngest of 12 children and growing up on the family farm (Vista, MB) taught Mom about the importance of family, and hard work. Those traits and her zest for life are what guided her throughout life.

Marlene is survived by her four children: Beverley (Rick) Lisowski, McCreary, MB; Joan (Gordon) McNamee, Brandon, MB; Brenda (Russell) Olson, Sechelt, BC; Donald (Clancey) Taylor, White Rock, BC. She was a loving grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory are her sisters Valetta Hogan and Velma Stevenson of Winnipeg.

Mom graduated as a Nurse (1956) from the Winnipeg General Hospital. In 1957 she and Stan were married and their careers took them from Kenora, to Brandon, and Winnipeg. Mom had a rewarding career with the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON). Her compassion, and caring nature led to strong bonds and friendly relationships with her patients.

Mom enjoyed spending time with family, socializing with friends, and was always there for her children and grandchildren when needed. Mom and Dad travelled extensively in their retirement.

In 2002 Mom returned to Brandon after Dad’s passing. She enjoyed many wonderful years living at Lions Manor and Victoria Landing. In recent years Mom has been cared for by the staff with the compassionate hearts at Fairview PCH (4th floor). The family would like to thank: Dr. Deong, and community supports - Home Care, We Care, Golden Girls, and Caring Companions.

May our mother’s love and memories live on. We lost our mother to Alzheimer’s, not all at once but, over many years from this debilitating disease.

The Ceremony to Celebrate Marlene's Life will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Marlene will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Minnedosa Cemetery, Minnedosa, Manitoba.

Donations in memory of Marlene may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 4B, 457-9th Street, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 1K2.
