Aneta Kenny
Aneta Kenny passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Aneta was born August 20, 1945 in Eriksdale, MB and lived in a log house west of Ashern. She had two sisters and one brother all of whom were older than her. In the summer of 1947 her family moved to Eriksdale where they lived until 1954 before moving to Brandon. While in Brandon, Aneta attended Central, Earl Haig, Brandon Collegiate and Harrison High schools. After graduation Aneta went to the Wheat City Business College for eight months and then taught there for two years. She then commenced employment with Donovan, Stone and Company Chartered Accountants, where she worked as an administrative secretary until the summer of 1982. In September 1982 she was hired at the City of Brandon police department as the central records supervisor where she worked until her retirement in June 2000. In August 1989 Aneta married Bill Key, whom she had met while working at Donovan Stone and Company. Aneta’s favourite vacation spot was Hecla Island, MB and several summer vacations were spent there enjoying nature, hiking, and reading. Aneta took painting lessons and left many beautiful paintings to family and friends. Another of her talents was writing poetry. She belonged to a poetry club for many years and put many of her poems to music to be sung at special occasions such as farewells and showers. She also accompanied herself on guitar which she played for many years. Aneta leaves to cherish her memory, husband Bill; sisters Tena and Lily; nieces Martha (Ken), Miriam (Tony), and Rachel (Todd), and their families; nephews Dan (Fay), Ken (Mary), Mark and Tim and their families; sister-in-law Carolyn (Chris) and her family; close friends Kathy, Elliott, Fran and Tom, and numerous other extended family members. Aneta was predeceased by her parents Winnifred and Martin, her brother Martin and her brothers-in-law Harold and Ernie. Aneta will always be remembered for her kind, caring, gentle nature and her love of animals – especially cats. A private family memorial service took place on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Rev. Harvey Hurren officiated. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Aneta's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #3 – 2430 Victoria Avenue, Brandon, MB R7B 0M5 or the Canadian Diabetes Association, Unit A1 – 800 Rosser Avenue, Brandon, MB R7A 6N5.
