Obituary for James Ramon "Jim" Whitney

James Ramon "Jim"  Whitney
On Friday, March 10, 2017, James Ramon "Jim" Whitney passed away peacefully with his loving wife Marg, family and friends by his side. Jim was born February 16, 1932 in Winnipeg, MB. He worked for C.N.R and Protelec Alarms until his retirement at age 55 years. During retirement Jim worked as Course Marshall at Glen Lea where he met the love of his life and wife of 25 years Marg. When not on the golf course Jim enjoyed picnics, Scrabble with family and developed a love for bird watching. Past president of Seniors for Seniors, Jim was involved in many activities and fundraisers at the A.N.A.F social club. Remaining to cherish Jim's memory are his wife Marg; children Don, Shannon, Ernie and Richard; grandchildren Braden, Casey, Dustin, Shantelle and JD and great grandchild Thoren. Also surviving are sisters Kay, Jessie and Gloria; nieces Laurie and Cheryl; extended family Amanda & Trevor and family; godson Shawn & Chantelle and family, Lori and Family, Steven and Liz, recent born namesake Victor James Peter. He was predeceased by his brothers Charlie and George and daughter Shannon Lou. A special thank you to the staff at the Assiniboine Centre for their loving care and support. The Celebration of Jim's Life will be held at the Salvation Army Citadel, 9 Princess Avenue East, on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Lieutenant Kaitlin Adlam officiating. Donations in memory of James may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 301 - 1 Wesley Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4C6 or the Salvation Army Citadel, 9 Princess Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 1R8.
