Also left to mourn are his sister-in-law Beryl Fardoe, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Martha and Hugh Jameson and cherished cousins, nieces and nephews and their children. He was also fondly known as Uncle Will or Will. Ann and Bill were married on June 15th, 1957 in Brandon, married for nearly 54 years when Ann passed away. Their love to each other was very evident, an inspiration to many, working alongside each other raising their family and expanding their farming business. Music, dancing and visiting were recreation to Bill, as he treasured each event he attended. Living his entire life in the Little Souris District, south of Brandon, attending school, church and eventually seeing the school used for community social events. He was educated in plumbing, electrical and carpentry, doing this vocational work in addition to farming. Agriculture was his life, he loved where his grandfather homesteaded and was extremely proud of the Century and Heritage Farm recognition received from the Province of Manitoba. Bill was in the forefront on the evolution of farming, living through farming with horses and threshing machines to larger farm equipment complete with modern day electronics. He was first in the area to grow canola, to purchase and set up his own grain cleaner, acquire a 4 wheel drive tractor and self-propelled combine. He kept up with technology, competent on the computer doing bookkeeping, ancestry, shopping, emails, facebook and researching anything his mind queried about. He loved all living things, enjoyed the crops flourishing as they grew and ripened ready for harvest, the blooming hay crop being cut and baled for the upcoming winter season, from newborn calves to weanlings ready for life on their own. He loved his wife Ann’s garden produce and gorgeous flowers, and latterly loved his three cats dearly that shared his home with him. He recently delighted in having a couple light horses in the yard and seeing Laura and Dean riding. Genealogy, reading, puzzles, family and friends visiting and watching sports in real life or on television, particularly hockey and baseball were pleasures that passed the time and put a smile on his face. He looked forward to attending his grandkids sport events, laterally waiting for results of motocross races, keeping his fingers crossed that there were no “wipe-outs”. He was involved with Little Souris United Church and eventually Trinity United Church, Brandon Consumers Co-op, mediator on Manitoba Mediation Board, councillor for Municipality of Cornwallis, representative on the Brandon & Area Planning District, member and past-treasurer of the Westman Prostate Cancer Support Group and a 20 year associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Brandon Br. # 3. Bill was a survivor of prostate and skin cancer, he continued to watch his eating habits and a firm believer in keeping both mind and body active right to the end. Bill’s funeral and celebration of his life was held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Memories Chapel with Reverend Harvey Hurren officiating, as per Dad’s request for old time fiddle music accompanied by organ was ably provided by Brian and Dorothy Granger. Daddy’s Hands and Waltz Across Texas accompanied the video tribute, eulogy was given by daughter Laura and the grandchildren’s reflections were delivered by Adam and Eric Fardoe. Urn bearers were his three children and honourary bearers were his seven grandchildren, with private family interment at Brandon Cemetery.
