Obituary for Richard "Dick" Conrad Jones

Richard "Dick" Conrad  Jones
On Sunday, June 19, 2016, Richard Conrad "Dick" Jones, passed away at his residence, Fairview Home. Born January 1, 1931 in Moline, Manitoba, Dick spent his childhood in Rapid City, then moved to the farm at Moline during his teens. He remained there until 1968 when he married Alexe (nee Haslen). Dick farmed for many years, and worked at the Brandon Mental Health Centre from 1969 - 1996. During his retirement years, summers were spent at Glen Lea Golf Course, planting flowers and trimming trees. He was a member of the U.C.T.; board member of Riverview Curling Club; and also a life time member of the same. He started curling at a young age, winning many prizes and trophies, played hard ball and fast ball throughout the years, coached, and took up golf at age 50, all of which he thoroughly enjoyed. Dick is survived by his wife Alexe; daughter Patti (Glen) Gasnarek; son Jamie (Jackie) Jones and five grandchildren: Trae (Whitney), Shaya (Bradon), Tessa (Luke), Matthew, Andrew. Also surviving are two brother and sister-in-laws and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws. A graveside service was held at the Rapid City Cemetery on Friday, June 24, 2016. Pallbearers were Doug Anderson, Glen Gasnarek, Terry Haslen, John Howden, Dave Murray and Ken Omilanow. A memorial service was held at St. George's Anglican Church on Saturday, June 25, 2016. The Rev. Jim Brown officiated. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Dick may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, Unit 4B-457-9th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 1K2.
