ONISIMCHUK: Eva Onisimchuk, born March 8, 1930 in Kelwood, Manitoba to Dmytro and Maria Sul, died on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre the age of 82 years. Eva attended Norgate School and worked in McCreary at Climens store. In later years, she worked at Osborne Home in Neepawa. Eva was married to George Onisimchuk for over 60 years until he predeceased her in 2007. She is survived by her four children: Linda Prociuk (Ed), Eileen Mosson (Orval), Jack (Ev), and Randy; six grandchildren: Jocelyn, Melissa, Josh, Jason, Angela, and Jill and two great grandchildren: Ryder and Hunter. Mom and Dad farmed at Kelwood for many years on a mixed farm and she was quite capable of running any piece of farm equipment. In addition, she carried milk and water pails daily to all of the animals; a hard but fulfilling life. Eva and George moved to Neepawa in 1977, and were finally able to relax somewhat, but with downsizing from an acreage to the city lot, found they had to have a massive garden to satisfy their need to plant. Their garden was a showpiece and this year she was still able to have her 36 tomato plants and 12 foot sunflowers. It broke her heart that she was unable to harvest this herself. She shared that it "just made her mad that she couldn't be in the garden." Eva's wish, as was George's, was to stay forever in her own home and she was able to do that until a few days before she passed. A witty, caring, generous, "no frills" lady that was our "rock". She will be missed by all of us. The Graveside ceremony was held at the Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa, Manitoba on September 19, 2012. Rita Friesen officiated.
